I thought this book was cute because it wasn't just about feeling happy or sad. Instead it expanded on the fact that sometimes you might feel like dancing, reading in bed or doing absolutely nothing! During the read aloud, I requested they show me what their faces and bodies might look like for a few examples featured in the book. Unsurprisingly, my lively little bunch often added sounds and shouts to their demonstrations and it was necessary to remind them to show without speaking or making noise. In terms of the activity that followed, I wanted to keep it simple and have them draw how they might look if they felt happy, angry, sad, scared, sick or hungry. Below, you'll find a few of their finished products... For some, this assignment proved to be a little difficult as they are still in the process of developing their drawing skills. However, I was impressed with my kinders who were able to associate specific colors with emotions.
