3 different graphic organizers for the Main Idea and Supporting Details 6 pages (each organizer comes in both color and black and white) These were successful with my 4th grade students. The Main Idea is always separate and above the Supporting Details. There are no directions or instructions provided on the handouts. Students should already have full knowledge of Main Ideas and Supporting Details before completing this assignment. This was a part of our Reading Center, "When You Finish Early" Basket and often given as a part of the Reading Homework. Students understood that after reading their books, short stories or articles they should find the Main Idea and Supporting Details from the reading and note their answers on the handout.
