After developing my boards and growing a following, I began to realize that most of what I consider to be valuable resources are stored on Pinterest rather than my own website. If that's the case, then what's the point of having TheTeacherTreasury.com ? My main objective is to provide others with an abundance of exceptional educational content. Since Pinterest is currently the best location to collect and organize my favorite teaching materials and other relevant content, my new plan is to direct educators to my boards and make The Teacher Treasury more personal. It's going to take some time, but this is where I'll be showcasing my entrepreneurial spirit and thoughts on life and education. Yes, I want to create and sell educational resources, dominate social media, operate a successful blog/website and build a substantial business, but I'm only working on my dreams part-time. Despite the fact that I constantly feel like nothing is going according to plan, I keep in mind that "whatever the mind can conceive, and believe, the mind can achieve, regardless of how many times you may have failed in the past or how lofty your aims and hopes may be." -Napoleon Hill I've had several temporary failures when it comes to The Teacher Treasury and I'm sure there are more to come, but I will not be defeated. I will learn from my mistakes and take on any upcoming challenges or obstacles to the best of my abilities. | Nothing is going according to plan! Plans are good. They help keep me organized and allow me to set goals for myself. Unfortunately, my plans are constantly changing and evolving. This makes it very difficult for me to stay on track and forces me to come up with a new method to achieve my desired outcome. Do you remember those commercials with people claiming Windows 7 was their idea? That pretty much how I feel about Pinterest. I wanted to create a website that would allow teachers to exchange educational ideas and resources from all over the internet. While Pinterest is still lacking in a few areas, it's an amazing asset that can really help educators improve their craft and provide their students with high quality educational tools. Since I'm on the topic of life and education, now's the perfect time to mention that the two truly go hand in hand. As far as I can tell, life is a constant lesson and there's always something to learn. Over the past few years I've exposed myself to various self improvement and personal development books, audio, video and seminars in order to grow as a person and learn how to achieve success in my life. I know that teaching is my passion and I have a burning desire to make a significant impact on the world of education, but it's always easier said than done. As an adult I'm bombarded with endless TO DO lists filled with chores, errands, expenses, activities, engagements and obligations to juggle in addition to maintaining full time job. As educators and parents, we should lead by example. I don't encourage students to doubt themselves or to give up when the going gets tough. If something doesn't work out as planned, we have to remember: THERE'S ALWAYS ANOTHER WAY. Napoleon Hill also reminds us that "within every setback or obstacle or disadvantage there is the seed of an equal or greater advantage or benefit." If I didn't reflect on these teachings, it would be far easier to throw in the towel and disregard my desire to build my own business. I greatly appreciate those who have downloaded my resources, purchased my products, provided constructive feedback, joined my mailing list, interacted with me via social media, etc. Your support reminds me that my dreams are possible and motivate me take action! I still have a lot to learn and I gladly invite you along with me on the journey. |
