I first started reading Piggie & Elephant with my 4-year-old niece and her enthusiasm for the characters and story line led me to introduce these titles to the kindergartners. Over the past couple months, we've been reading Piggie & Elephant books by Mo Willems and let me tell you...kinders L-O-V-E them! They can't get enough. When I tell them, "We'll be reading something else today," they are extremely disappointed, but overjoyed when I bring in a Mo Willems selection. We read over a dozen titles, but there are still quite a few left to go. Honestly, if I had to pick a favorite, I'd say We Are in a Book, but the kids seemed to like I Broke My Trunk, Let's Go for a Drive, I Love My New Toy, Should I Share My Ice Cream? the best. If you still haven't gotten around to reading a few Mo Willems children's books, now is the time to start! Below you'll find links to other teacher reviews and a few great activities that accompany these amazing reads, but first check out the student artwork! | I must say I'm a huge fan of Mo Willems too. These books are hilarious and the illustrations are simple, but wonderful. The speech bubbles and dialogue make it very easy for the little ones to follow along and they love it when they can read some of the pages on their own. |
