These materials are perfect for getting reluctant readers excited about books while also supporting literacy, writing, drama, and art skills. Hooked on Phonics has been around for YEARS so you probably alreayd know it's all about supporting families in their learning journey with playful, easy-to-use tools for reading. I didn’t start out using Hooked on Phonics to teach my son to read, but once we gave it a try I noticed a big improvement as far as his progress, confidence and reading fluency. The program makes phonics fun and simple to follow, and my son actually looks forward to using it. We’ve also added Hooked on Spelling and recently started Hooked on Math, which have been just as helpful. I was pleasantly surprised at how affordable everything is, especially for how much it’s helped in our homeschool. It’s been such a valuable resource for us. I highly recommend checking it out if you haven't already.  I’ve been shopping at Lakeshore Learning for years! First as a classroom teacher and now as a homeschooling parent. Needless to say, it continues to be one of my favorite places for educational resources. Their site is packed with high-quality games, hands-on learning tools, and even beautiful classroom décor and furniture that work perfectly in both homeschool and school settings. I’ve personally used their materials to make lessons more engaging at home, and I can honestly say they’ve been a worthwhile investment. If you’re looking for resources that are teacher-designed, durable, and fun for kids, I highly recommend checking them out!  I’ve been using the Novel Effect app during storytime with my son, and it’s been a fun way to make reading more interactive and exciting. The app adds music and sound effects that play along with your voice as you read aloud, which really brings the books to life. Some of our favorite titles to use with it have been Jabari Jumps, Go, Dog. Go!, Mel Fell, Dragons Love Tacos, Where the Wild Things Are, and Elbow Grease. You don’t have to buy all of these books either. A quick trip to the local library can save you a lot of money and still give you access to tons of great stories.  A Montessori advocate from Alphabet Trains & Toys shared this link with me, and it’s full of helpful info for anyone working on early math skills with young kids. If you're exploring Montessori Math or just want more hands-on ways to teach number sense, place value, and operations, this is a great read. It includes simple tips, examples, and ideas you can actually try at home. Definitely worth a look if you want math to make more sense and feel fun for your child.  I absolutely love Vooks.com! They bring books to life in a fun and engaging way and make reading more interesting for my son. It's a fantastic educational tool for young minds, and I recommend it to everyone I know. It offers a comprehensive collection of educational resources, including eBooks, blogs, webinars, and white papers, aimed at enhancing literacy, math, professional development, and assessment in your district, school, and among educators and students. |
